The College of Alberta introduced Gleise M. Silva as the primary Beef Cattle Research Council (BCRC) – Hays Chair in Beef Production Systems.
Within the function, Silva will work with beef producers, translating her and her colleagues’ research on cow-calf production into sensible recommendation.
Her work will assist producers lower your expenses, preserve forage lands and advance the Canadian beef trade’s management in sustainable production. The place, which begins July 1, is funded by the BCRC and the Hays household, with extra assist from McDonald’s Eating places of Canada, and Cargill.
“[Producers] are the ones working hard for us from Monday to Sunday. So I want to help them get the most out of their production systems. I want my research to actually reach the people who need it the most,” says Silva.
The place is assured for 10 years with tasks in educating, research and extension, and can be based mostly out of the U of A’s School of Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences (ALES).
As a research chair Silva will work with different school researchers and can construct a group of graduate college students and assist employees to create a robust research group. Silva may have entry to prime research amenities such because the Roy Berg Kinsella and Mattheis research ranches.
